Our Health Zim

What would make healthcare work for you?

A 2-minute survey for every Zimbabwean, at home or abroad. See the reality, then tell us the one thing you wish your health system had.

See the reality

Guess the reality.

Five questions about health in Zimbabwe. Make your guess, then see the answer.

Those are the numbers.
Now tell us what it's like for you.

Zimbabwe has done it before.

When the country decided something mattered, the numbers moved.

95-95-95

HIV targets reached for adults.

95% of people with HIV know their status, 95% of them are on treatment, and 95% of those have the virus under control.

WHO Africa, December 2024.

651 → 212

Fewer mothers dying in childbirth.

Maternal deaths per 100,000 live births fell from 651 in 2015 to 212 in 2023–24.

Zimbabwe Demographic and Health Survey 2023–24, via UNFPA, June 2025.

The next change starts with asking people what they need.

Most of what medicine knows comes from people who don't live here. The questions that matter most to Zimbabweans rarely get asked. How far you travel. What you pay. What's missing. So we're asking.

Two minutes. Mostly taps.

Tell us how healthcare works for you and your family, and the one thing you wish it had. Together, the answers show what healthcare in Zimbabwe is really like.

  • Anonymous. The survey never asks for your name. Your answers are stored without it.
  • For every Zimbabwean.Adults 18 and over, living at home or abroad and answering for family.
  • Your details, your choice.Leaving contact details at the end is completely optional. Your answers count either way.

What happens next.

  1. You add your voice.

Quick questions about how you get care, what it costs, what's missing and what you'd use.

  2. We learn what people need.

We look at the answers by province, age and gender to understand what matters most to people.

  3. It shapes real care.

The answers will guide Mazowe Health Clinic, a new medical centre being built in Mazowe District.

Who's asking.

Our Health Zim is run by the team building Mazowe Health Clinic, a new medical centre in Mazowe District, north of Harare. It's led by Malone, a doctor and co-author of Mind the Gap, a handbook on how clinical signs appear on Black and brown skin.

This is not a government survey, and we don't sell anyone's answers. We're asking because care built around real answers works better than care built on guesses.

About Mazowe Health Clinic
Mazowe Harare

Questions, answered.

Is this a government survey?

No. It's run by the team building Mazowe Health Clinic. It isn't connected to the Ministry of Health and Child Care or any government body.

Is it anonymous?

Yes. The survey doesn't ask for your name. At the end you can choose to leave an email or WhatsApp number if you'd like to stay in touch. That's completely optional, and it's stored separately from your answers.

Who can take part?

Any adult aged 18 or over who lives in Zimbabwe, or who lives abroad and helps family in Zimbabwe with healthcare.

Can I get medical help here?

No. This is a survey, not a health service. If you're unwell, please contact your nearest clinic, hospital or emergency service.

What will you do with the answers?

We use them to understand what people need from healthcare and to plan services, including at Mazowe Health Clinic. We never sell answers or share them for anyone else's marketing.

Can I share the survey?

Please do. The more people who answer, from every province, the clearer the picture.

Your voice belongs in the data.

It takes two minutes.

Who we are

Our Health Zim is a survey about healthcare in Zimbabwe, run by Rutak Incorporated, the company building Mazowe Health Clinic. We decide how the information you give us is used. You can contact us at mukwende10@gmail.com.

What we collect

Your survey answers: your province, age group and gender; where you or your family usually go for care, including any use of traditional or faith healers; how long it takes to get there; how care is paid for and what a consultation costs; the biggest problems you face; which services you'd use; when you last had a check-up; and what you wish your health system had. We don't ask for your name, and we don't ask about any medical conditions. You can choose "Prefer not to say" for gender and for the question about healers.

Only if you choose to stay in touch, we also collect your first name if you give it, your email address and/or WhatsApp number, your province, and whether you'd like updates about Mazowe Health Clinic. This is completely optional, and these contact details are stored separately from your survey answers.

Please don't include your name or personal medical details in your written answer.

How we use it

We combine everyone's answers to understand what healthcare in Zimbabwe is like and what people need. Anything we share from the survey never identifies anyone. The answers also help us plan services, including at Mazowe Health Clinic.

If you leave contact details, we use them only to keep in touch with you about this work and, if you ticked the box, to send updates about Mazowe Health Clinic. We never sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Where it's kept

Everything is stored privately with Netlify, which hosts this website. Only we can see it. Netlify may keep data on servers outside the UK and Zimbabwe, under its own security and data protection safeguards. The site's fonts load from Google Fonts.

How long we keep it

Survey answers are kept for up to five years so we can compare how things change. Contact details are kept until you ask us to remove them, or two years after the survey closes, whichever comes first.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the contact details we hold about you, and you can stop our messages at any time by emailing us or replying to any message. Because survey answers are anonymous, we can't find an individual's answers once they're submitted.

On your device

The site saves small notes in your browser so it can remember your progress through the survey and that you've finished. It doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK (ico.org.uk) or to POTRAZ, Zimbabwe's data protection authority (potraz.gov.zw).
